"Can you just keep talking to me? Please."
Oh my god. this line made me pause to take in everything. Just a whole whirlwind of emotions.
From Convict's hope of a rescue. to his realization of the deceit. to knowing what could
possible happen to him knowing that he truly wasn't the only one. And possibly won't be a
significant enough cause to warrant rescue like the other's before him.
The idea of Convict initially feeling hopeful that he'd able to find a signal back to the surface ("Yes! I'm here!") only to realize it were a signal from another stranded Submarine (You're not on the tow ship) who's also looking for rescue themselves and by how much their desperation sounded on the signal she received made me suspect she's been looking for it for a while.
With Convict's realization that he truly wasn't the only one, and that they lied to him before his initial expedition? He's been waiting for a signal for a while. and hes completely isolated deep in those depths. Those voice recordings, those terminal photos. He thinks that those weren't his problem. And he believed in what THEY told him were to happen. An easy task. Retrieve a sample, go back, and then he's freed.
